Led by frontman Mike Beale, whose fierce energy and passion for live performance have lit up stages across Australia and beyond, the band is all about raw power, expressive and interactive live shows based around the classic guitar-driven sound.
Drawing inspiration from the early British rock and blues explosion—where bands reimagined American blues into something louder, harder, and unforgettable—the band channels the spirit of legends like The Who, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, David Bowie, Queen, Rory Gallagher and Free, alongside American greats like CCR, Steppenwolf, Hendrix, Springsteen, and Elvis.
A BRIEF HISTORY
When you watch Mike Beale play you begin to understand what commitment to performance and live music really means. Mike’s energy, unique style and live performance has been instrumental in delivering his music to audiences in Australia and all over the world for many years. Listening to his playing and singing you can hear he has been heavily influenced by late 60’s and early 70’s music. Early years in Fremantle W.A. saw Mike release his debut album Breakaway. The early 90’s playing throughout the east coast forming the power trio called Men in Blues. The band released two albums, Drinking Overnight and Battered and Bruised, both well received and widely played in Europe. Mike has also performed at many Festivals - Australian Blues Festival NSW, Blues on Broadbeach QLD, Bridgetown Blues WA and the Gympie Muster QLD to name a few.
Late 2008 His first solo acoustic album “Short Stories”. The song Fishbone taken from that record was a top ten finish in the Queensland Q music awards.
In 2009 an introduction from guitar legend John Meyer had Mike and Perth Western Australian singer KNiKi team for a series of east coast gigs, Festivals and International appearances under the banner - The KNiKi + Mike Beale Project was born. Releasing 2 albums, the band also added their original music to movie soundtracks and toured extensively. Then came Covid - Covid changed everything. Fortunate to be in Brisbane throughout the pandemic Mike started The Mike Beale Band. After nearly 4 years of regular gigging and festival appearances, this latest musical journey really showcases Mikes full range, both vocally and instrumentally. Currently putting the finishing touched to a live album, there will also be some great new original music released in the near future.
